Life moves so quickly, and I know how important it is stop and just be present with those to whom choose to be closest. My fire comes from capturing those moments of pure joy, facilitating a brief pause to allow families to reconnect, and offering a tangible piece of personal art to look back on in times to come. It is a pleasure to have met some incredible people with fascinating stories through my photography, and an honour to have developed deep friendships with these beautiful humans.
Mama Lioness of two fierce cubs, wife of a man with the most glorious mane, and daughter of the queen of the pride, I have a strong sense of tribe running through my veins. A Fen Girl at heart, you’ll normally find me marvelling at fungi, picking blackberries, and counting the galaxies. I believe beauty is not just found in the face, but in the colours of nature, the shapes of architecture, and the textures of this beautiful rock that we call home.
I spend the majority of my life fuelled by black coffee, Bowie, and Bill Murray movies, and have seen 4am more times than I did when I had newborns. But when I am invited to be a part of someone’s life journey, from engagement, to wedding, through pregnancy into a growing family, I know deep within my soul that there’s nowhere I’d rather be than behind my camera.
After taking commissions for several years I established Lauren Irving Photography in 2010. This has taken me on many great adventures to many stunning destinations both locally and internationally, working with poets, acclaimed artists, entertainers, BSL interpreters, creative collectives, and many other companies ranging from local businesses to global firms.
From poetry slams to charity sport events, ballet productions to local community workshops, I genuinely love what I do and put my heart and soul into capturing the right image.
I spent a sunny morning with Diane, Geoff and their beautiful family in their stunning garden, having loads of fun, capturing smiles and making memories. From climbing trees, pulling faces, and seeing who was the most ticklish, we had a blast and I’m so happy with the images we created. Diane and Geoff received one of my gift vouchers for their wedding anniversary and I was honoured to capture photographs for them treasure and celebrate their marriage and family.
Local artist Ann Bellamy is currently holding an exhibition in the City Gallery in Peterborough Museum. My hometown has a growing circle of creatives and I after seeing some of Ann’s work through social media I was intrigued to explore more. As I gain a lot of inspiration from my local heritage and culture it was exciting to see how another artist from the area interpreted her findings.
Using a combination of illustration, sculpture, installation, and photography Bellamy held up a lens to the quirks of everyday life and transported me back to her memories of growing up.
Several of the wonderful and imaginative illustrations were accompanied with text which at first appeared to be in an unknown language. After studying them I realised they were written phonetically so when spoken the pronunciation is reflected. This worked beautifully, adding an extra dimension of humour and personality, making the piece resonate not only visually but audibly, urging the viewer to hear the phrase in the accent of the subject.
The exhibition was a great inspiration through her use of observation, humour, and self-reflection. It reminded me of what I enjoy about photography, recognising details, embracing the beauty in the everyday or overlooked aspects of life.
Just before Christmas I had an amazing shoot with some very talented burlesque dancers. It was a beautiful and empowering afternoon full of fun, feathers, and fantastic dancers. Well done, you fabulous ladies!
Although it’s not my usual subject matter, over the past few weeks I’ve had the chance to try something different, and work with the estate agents Wilson & Co Sales & Lettings photographing some beautiful properties.
When you’re searching for your perfect new home, it can feel like you’re wading through a sea of beige carpets and magnolia walls, but being able to capture real homes and show them off to their true potential feels like I’m a tiny part of creating someone’s future dream.
I’ve really enjoyed this change of pace, and although portraiture is my first love, working with different companies is refreshing, and a lot of fun! If you’re a business in need of some beautiful imagery to showcase your product in the glory it deserves, just drop me a message!
Absolutely loved capturing this exciting moment, the day before the newest member of this wonderful family arrived. Esther glamorously showed off her gorgeous baby bump with a special pregnancy shoot with her husband and daughter, while in the initial stages of labour! It was such an honour to record these magical memories for them.

Perhaps, by Vera Brittain
(Dedicated to her fiance Roland Aubrey Leighton, who was killed at the age of 20 by a sniper in 1915, four months after she had accepted his marriage proposal)
Perhaps some day the sun will shine again,
And I shall see that still the skies are blue,
And feel once more I do not live in vain,
Although bereft of You.
Perhaps the golden meadows at my feet
Will make the sunny hours of spring seem gay,
And I shall find the white May-blossoms sweet,
Though You have passed away.
Perhaps the summer woods will shimmer bright,
And crimson roses once again be fair,
And autumn harvest fields a rich delight,
Although You are not there.
Perhaps some day I shall not shrink in pain
To see the passing of the dying year,
And listen to Christmas songs again,
Although You cannot hear.
But though kind Time may many joys renew,
There is one greatest joy I shall not know
Again, because my heart for loss of You
Was broken, long ago.
